HTC is working on a security patch for its mobile devices

Taiwanese manufacturer of mobile devices, HTC, has promised to issue a security patch for its devices based on an Android OS operating system made by the company Google.
A security oversight allows third party applications access to all private information on a device, including user’s contacts, e-mail, SMS (short message service) and GPS (global positioning system) data. The vulnerability appeared after the last operating system update, when HTC added a tool to log user activity. Every third party application installed on a device afterwards would have access to this log, and could send it further over the Internet. HTC is trying to calm its users claiming that such activity would be illegal and that none such application has been found yet, in the same time promising that a security patch for the vulnerability will be issued soon. But according to the words of experts, it still remains to see if HTC will just issue an security certificate for accessing these private information and leaving the possibility for mobile service providers and marketing companies, as well as HTC themselves, accessing it and using it or will they completely remove the log tool.
