New version of a computer security testing program Metasploit

Company that produces computer security programs, Rapid7, has launched a new version of its very popular and widely used program for checking the security of computer systems Metasploit.

The program was used by experts and professionals to check for vulnerabilities of computers from companies that hired them. But Metasploit in its 4.0 version enables attacks on whole computer systems, and has the ability to write its findings in easily searchable data bases. This is the first big update of Metasploit in 5 years, and the need for supporting large computer systems was something that proved important in the past years. Chief programmer of Metasploit, H.D. Moore, sold his program in 2009 to the company Rapid7 but still remains the leader of the project. Updates are also available for other Metasploit products by Rapid7, and now they contain a test for as much as 716 known computer vulnerabilities. Original news can be found at COPUTERWORLD web site.
